The Spiral: A Custom Light Sculpture for Urban Splash
The objective of this project was to enhance the entrance area by creating an engaging and visually impactful display. The design was inspired by the architectural form of the spiral staircase, using its dynamic structure as the foundation for the new installation.

When working with buildings of historical significance, the design approach is informed by the existing architecture to ensure the installation aligns with both the building’s character and the client’s requirements. For this project, the challenge was to transform the entrance into a visually compelling space. The spiral staircase within the disused chimney stack became the central point of inspiration, with its energy flow influencing the installation’s design.
The result reflects the staircase’s unique form, incorporating digitally controlled lighting that moves in waves of color, mirroring the flow of movement through the building.
This installation demonstrates the successful combination of architectural features with technological innovation.
